Among chocolate makers there aren't many beans that create as much excitement as those from Madagascar. So we are thrilled to be able to offer you this single-estate chocolate created with beans from Bertil Åkesson's estate in the Sambirano Valley of northwest Madagascar.
Cacao was first planted in Madagascar by French colonialists in the 1800's, and in modern times it has come to be prized as one of the world's finest varietals. Not surprisingly, Madagascar was one of the first varietals used by craft chocolate makers as our new American craft chocolate movement grew. Cacao from Madagascar is big, bright, complex, and fruit-forward. It's a wonder.
